Reformed theology rightly emphasizes that salvation is by grace alone through faith alone, and rightly so because there is nothing any of us can do to merit our own salvation (Eph. 2:8–10). However, though salvation is a free gift, God has also promised many heavenly rewards to those that will follow Him.
In this book, Puritan William Gurnall speaks of the rewards that Christ’s faithful servants will receive in heaven. He reminds us that the labor Christ requires of us is a joy and calls us to serve God faithfully so that we might be granted a reward in heaven. This book also includes an appendix containing Gurnall’s sermon “The Civil Magistrate’s Portrait Drawn from the Word.”
Written by the author of the better known Christian In Complete Armor, this smaller work reminds the christian of the great reward promised by God and calls us to the work asked of us.
